Workshop Concept:

Using a mix of live and recorded music, our Dancing in the Flow Workshop, invites participants to experience a calm, flowing dance state bathed in no-talk-dance-only environment. It is the perfect anecdote to the hectic pace of life and for finding a deeper connection between movement and music.

Tribe Nawaar dancing at the Boulder hafla with the Alexandria EnsembleWe will open with a body awareness warm up stretch and moving meditation.

Dancers who are newer to our dance or who are attending the workshop online via zoom will follow Jennifer. She will lead them thru a series of dances with a focus on relaxing into following and feeling the flow of movement through their bodies.

Dancers with lead & follow experience will be grouped with other dancers at similar levels. These groups are invited to let go of actively thinking about what step they will do next. Instead they are encouraged to feel the how the music calls the movement from them.

Jennifer’s goal is to have everyone leave with a deeper connection to dance and understanding of how releasing the conscious, planning part of our brains can be a benefit to authentic movement, expression and musicality.

Limited space available.

Prerequisite & Dress For Workshop:

Experience with the basics of our dance form is helpful, but, not required. You may wear anything that allows for a full range of motion. Some dancers like to dress up where some prefer to wear workout clothes. It’s entirely up to you.
