Looking for a fun way to exercise? We are offering our ‘Belly Dance As Fitness Workshop’ in collaborating with Le Buone Azioni Productions as part of their 2021-22 SWAY Body & Soul Class Series. Join us Saturday March 26th from 11am – 12:15pm online via zoom or live in our studio in North Boulder. Limited in person spaces available.
A portion of the proceeds will be donated to help Alternatives To Violence– Working toward a safe community free from domestic violence, sexual assault and human trafficking.
Belly Dance As Fitness- Workshop Content:
Taught by our director, Jennifer Secrist Goran, who brings her 30 years of training in this dance form into this fun fitness dance workout.
The workshop starts with a brief intro, warm up and moving meditation. After that we will jump right in with a series of mid range cardio drills while we dance using some of our more rigorous fast steps. A fun way to get the blood circulating for sure! This workshop will provide a very brief breakdown of each step so no dance experience is necessary to enjoy this workout.
After our cardio section we’ll transition into some slower tempo music to ground us. Here we’ll use a whole new family of belly dance movements to tone muscles while calming our minds.
Exercising the body whole while experiencing a sublime dance style.. that’s our goal!
Prerequisite:
No prerequisite or previous dance experience needed to join in this workshop.
1.25 hours, $15 per person.
A great workout that that can be used regularly for exercise or as a cross training supplement to any of our weekly belly dance classes.
Dress For Class:
Any fitted top and pants or skirt that provides full range of movement is best. Consider the space you are dancing in when choosing footwear or not. Ideally you want to choose a large open space preferably with wood or smooth floors. Uneven surfaces and thick carpets are not recommended for safe at-home dancing.
Even if you won’t be sharing your screen you may find it fun to wear hip scarves, jeweled or tassel belts (optional).. all fun belly dance accessories that accent our dance movements.
Workshop Time:
Saturday March 26th, 11am – 12:15pm
This workshop starts promptly at 11am mountain. Please plan to log in a few minutes before the workshop so that we can start on time. New to zoom? It’s super easy to use and we are happy to help you with the basic settings and tools to help you get the most out of your time with us. We will log on 15 minutes before the workshop to help those who may need it.
Please note: once the workshop starts you may be held in a ‘waiting room’ if joining us late. The instructor, Jennifer, will admit you to the workshop in between teaching. This may take up to 10 minutes, so, joining on time is highly recommended.

During Covid we are offering this workshop online via Zoom and in person with limited spaces at our studio.
Online interactive workshop held via the free Zoom app. After you purchase a workshop our hosts at SWAY will email you a zoom link with the workshop/meeting ID and the password needed to join. Keep these in an easy to find place. On the day of class, log in using the ID/password to join us. It’s that easy!
