Have you mastered all the concepts in our Levels 1 & 2 classes? Looking for a dance challenge in the new year? You may want to audition for our advanced level classes.
These classes are offered every Tuesday night and with your admission into these classes you’ll officially be part of our student troupe. Tentative audition date is set for Saturday February 1st, 11am
Advanced Class FAQs:
When will I be ready for this class?
That’s hard to say when an individual dancer will show the technique and professionalism to advance to Level 3, but, we can say that we do encourage dancers to advance to additional levels when we see they are ready.
I have heard dancers have to audition to get into this class. Is that true?
Yes.
How do the advanced class auditions work?
You will be paired up with one of our advanced dancers and be asked to lead and follow all of the movements and variations from Level 1 & 2 (both our fast and slow vocabulary) using the formations covered in Level 2. The audition will be videotaped. Our director will review the video and email you a personalized written follow up highlighting strengths and areas to work on along with audtion results. This is helpful even if you are not ready to join the advanced class and formal dance company but just want feedback and help setting goals for the new year. Valued at $125, audition fee discounts are available for currently enrolled Level 2 students.
What are we looking for in the audition?
We are looking for good dance skills and a clear understanding of all Level 1 & 2 movements, cues and technique along with ability to move in and out of lead position with clarity and precision using Level 2 formations.
I’ve heard we have to sign a contract upon admission to Level 3. Can you explain more about this?
Yes. As a dancer who will begin performing with our troupe you will be representing our dance company. Our contract lays out the expectations regarding professionalism, attendance and commitment.
If you’d like to join this round of auditions, email our director, Jennifer, and let her know. If you want to set up a private lesson or series of private lessons to help prepare for the audition process: include a few dates and she will work with you to get that in the calendar and set up an agenda of what to cover.
